QUIRINALE 3D VR, the software for virtual-reality based 3D navigation of the Quirinale Palace’s main floor (Piano Nobile), developed by Geocart and Digital Lighthouse for the Italian Republic Presidency, has been officially presented today.

The project includes the digital reconstruction of the rooms of the main floor (Piano Nobile) through advanced computer graphics techniques applied to the data obtained from the areas’ surveying, having been carried out with laser scanner and high resolution photogrammetric cameras.

QUIRINALE 3D VR, in line with the latest standards of digital and virtual reality reconstruction, allows the viewer to experience an immersive unique and very impressive navigation. The visitor is free to move through precisely reconstructed environments and to observe and interact with objects and works of art. The software is compatible both for display using PC monitors and notebook as well as for immersive mode using Oculus Rift viewers.

QUIRINALE 3D VR has been presented at the press conference on the new communication of the Quirinale. During the presentation, a practical demonstration of the software potentialities has taken place through workstations specially fitted out and equipped with Oculus Rift for immersive mode use.

4K EMOTIONS IN SEARCH OF AN UNDISCOVERED ITALY

"Basilicata in 4K" is the title of the documentary, produced by Digital Lighthouse, that turns the images of a wild and wonderful land into an emotional journey through art, nature, history and tradition.

Entirely filmed in 4K, this production is the first stage of "Italy in 4K", a cinematographic journey to discover the Italian beautiful landscapes using the most most modern technologies and the most advanced techniques of digital cinema effects. As part of this ambitious project, Digital Lighthouse has already started filming "Matera in 4K", a documentary designed for the view in 4K that, using innovative techniques in 3D digital reconstruction will bring the viewer to explore the charm of Matera city as it has not been ever seen.

Produced with the collaboration of the Italian Ministry of Environment, Federparchi and Parco Nazionale dell'Appennino Lucano Val d'Agri Lagonegrese, "Basilicata in 4K" shows wonderful places of the most important natural areas in Basilicata, like Parco Naturale di Gallipoli Cognato - Piccole Dolomiti Lucane, Parco della Murgia Materana, and historical heritage of absolute value as the City of Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019. "Basilicata in 4K" has achieved great success among the public and the operators of the sector, with a high number of visits to the online version and during the official presentation, which was held on September 26th in the stand of the Ministry of the Environment "Biodiversity Park "at Expo 2015 and then as part of "L'Appennino nel mondo" event of "Expo&Territory" that was held during the same day at the Mondadori Multicenter in Milan.

AT MARATEA FILM FESTIVAL SPOTLIGHT TURNED ON DIGITAL LIGHTHOUSE

From the 29th of July to the 2nd of August, with the gorgeous Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea in the backdrop, Digital Lighthouse will be among the protagonists of the 2015 Edition of Maratea Film Festival.

A new way of making films: these are the terms that the staff of Digital Lighthouse will use to present, in the evening of the 31st of July, the new film Studios and its modern framework for film and television production as well as post-production all exclusively made in Basilicata. The cultural event, presented this year by Hollywood actress Jo Champa, includes five evenings and a rich program of meetings, interviews, prestigious film premieres and screenings, with the participation of nationally and internationally-renowned actors and producers.

Within a permanent area, especially set up for the occasion, Digital Lighthouse, a project that was entirely designed and developed by Geocart, will show to the public and to professionals the innovative possibilities and high standards that make Digital Lighthouse be a modern film industry and an unique interlocutor for every need of artistic production. The high-tech equipment and new working methods adopted, together with the high technical and creative know-how already accrued, turn Digital Lighthouse into a new benchmark for the national and international field of Cinematography, for Digital Cinema Effects, for Broadcast as well as for Media & Entertainment sector, including Gaming and Cultural Heritage.

And all of this could only be realized in Basilicata, becoming more and more an ideal place to live, work and tell stories, even through cinema.
