BIM and new methodologies in the field of civil engineering, virtual reality and the new models of cultural heritage fruition. These are the main contributions that Geocart, in collaboration with Digital Lighthouse, a group company specialized in the development of digital solutions, will bring to round-tables discussions and training courses provided during the event.

Here are the initiatives that will concern the company from close up:

October 4, 2016, from 2 p.m. - Villa of Maxentius between the second and third mile of the Via Appia Antica, Rome During the on-field workshop, visitors can get to know the integrated methodology of survey with laser scanner and photo cameras applied by company technicians to an area of the Circus of Maxentius and the remains of the Tower of Carceres. QUIRINALE 3D VR has been presented at the press conference on the new communication of the Quirinale. During the presentation, a practical demonstration of the software potentialities has taken place through workstations specially fitted out and equipped with Oculus Rift for immersive mode use.

October 5, 2016, 2.15 p.m. - Auditorium of the National Central Library of Rome The workshop "BIM in Civil Engineering supported by laser scanner and digital models animations" will be held in the course of the session entitled "3D models for infrastructures and BIM". During this workshop, Geocart will present the design and management integrated methodology, composed of a central core based on study and engineering of the technical solution in BIM optical. The latter incorporates a preliminary level based on the plano-altimetric characterization of the territory on which the works are inserted or on the survey of existing buildings and a final level linked to the graphic elaboration of the project through rendering, high-definition 3D animations and digital visual effects.

October 5, 2016, 12 p.m. – Meeting room BIS of National Central Library of Rome Ample space will be devoted to the presentation of models and innovative methods for the fruition of artistic and cultural heritage, starting from the integration of 3D survey methodologies with advanced sensors and data processing techniques. During the workshop "From survey to immersive virtual tour: new methods for cultural heritage fruition", Digital Lighthouse technicians will illustrate the result of the processing of the data acquired during the provided on-field workshop. In particular, they will show the digital reconstruction of the ruin of one of the towers of Carceres, a product destined to virtual navigation with immersive viewers. Visitors will be given the chance to browse the site in its current state and in its digitally reconstructed version.

The exhibition space (stand 4 - Gold area, in front of the National Central Library Auditorium) will offer visitors interesting additional opportunities to learn about the equipment used and the methodologies implemented by the company.
