LAUNCH OF THE OFFICIAL PRESENTATION OF QUIRINALE 3D VR

QUIRINALE 3D VR, the software for virtual-reality based 3D navigation of the Quirinale Palace’s main floor (Piano Nobile), developed by Geocart and Digital Lighthouse for the Italian Republic Presidency, has been officially presented today.

The project includes the digital reconstruction of the rooms of the main floor (Piano Nobile) through advanced computer graphics techniques applied to the data obtained from the areas’ surveying, having been carried out with laser scanner and high resolution photogrammetric cameras.

QUIRINALE 3D VR, in line with the latest standards of digital and virtual reality reconstruction, allows the viewer to experience an immersive unique and very impressive navigation. The visitor is free to move through precisely reconstructed environments and to observe and interact with objects and works of art. The software is compatible both for display using PC monitors and notebook as well as for immersive mode using Oculus Rift viewers.

QUIRINALE 3D VR has been presented at the press conference on the new communication of the Quirinale. During the presentation, a practical demonstration of the software potentialities has taken place through workstations specially fitted out and equipped with Oculus Rift for immersive mode use.
